Governance Structure
Owolabi University operates a clear, accountable governance structure in line with the Code of Governance for private universities in Nigeria. Governance is structured across key statutory organs and principal officers to ensure transparent administration, academic leadership, and sound institutional development.
Board of Trustees
- The supreme governing body, responsible for overall policy direction and financing.
- It defines the vision and mission, approves long-term plans and ensures adequate funding, but does not take part in day-to-day administration.
- Members are appointed by the proprietor, subject to NUC approval and security clearance.
Chancellor
- The ceremonial head of the university, appointed by the Board of Trustees for a five-year term.
- The Chancellor presides at convocation ceremonies for the award of degrees.
Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council
- Appointed by the Board of Trustees for a four-year term.
- Chairs the Governing Council and guides policy, financing, physical development and staff conditions of service.
Governing Council
- Responsible and accountable for the governance of the university.
- Formulates and oversees policies that promote its sound development and smooth operation.
Senate
- The highest academic authority and final decision-making body on all academic matters.
- Chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, overseeing academic regulations, curricula, and degree awards.
Vice-Chancellor
- The chief executive and academic officer of the university.
- Responsible to Council for the organisation, administration, and conduct of the university's business.
Deputy Vice-Chancellors
- Two Deputy Vice-Chancellors, for Academics and for Administration.
- Both will be professors, appointed by Council on the recommendation of the Vice-Chancellor.
Registrar, Bursar and University Librarian
- Principal officers of the university.
- They lead administration and records, financial management, and library services respectively.
